Trustee Visit May-June 2018

Chris and Margo spent a week in Rwanda with Theogene, our VRUK Rwandan co-ordinator. We worked together to establish Gihombo Forward (GiFo) the Rwandan NGO through which we can work from the UK. An inaugural meeting and training session led to the signing up of 14 GiFo Board members, who had travelled three hours by our village boat to the lakeside retreat of Home St Jean in Kibuye. After the meeting, a traditional African buffet was shared, during which, the royal wedding from Windsor castle was on the tv. It was a day to remember for us all.

What was achieved?

When Chris returned home, Margo was joined by Janice and Jane, ex VSO Ghana volunteers, for a further two weeks. They came not only to discover Rwanda, but to use their experience and skills to support the project.
